Conscious

The Book

Is crises pushing us toward a leap in consciousness?

Can we live from an inner truth?

Can we participate in the evolution of our own consciousness?

Conscious asks about our human potential to achieve a transformation in consciousness, which might be both inevitable and essential if we are going to continue our human adventure.

This book is an anthology of the responses that were given to interview questions for the documentary film Conscious: Fulfilling our Higher Evolutionary Potential (released 2017). Each chapter reflects the thoughts of a very respected individual who was interviewed for the film. The inspiration to make the documentary film and this book was first kindled by the work of Sri Aurobindo, who was a 20th century Indian philosopher and yogi, and Mirra Alfassa.

Glimpse a deeper wisdom, a vaster consciousness – resonant with a genuine sense for beauty. Journey with esteemed visionaries as they delve into science, the arts, love, and divinity to unveil our most profound human potential.

Conscious invites you to find a deeper spiritual meaning in our radically changing world.

Evolution is continuing, and it does not seem to be by chance … so here we are.

Music as a vehicle for self-transformation:

an organic inquiry into the experience of Rita Lee's songs

Ph.D. Thesis:

Music as a Vehicle

for Self-Transformation

This dissertation examines music as a vehicle for self-transformation. Specifically, its primary purpose is to understand the transformative experience that selected people had by listening to the music of the Brazilian singer/songwriter Rita Lee.

This study is guided by the following research question: What do stories of 6 listeners reveal about the phenomenon of self-transformation through Rita Lee‘s music? In order to investigate this topic, organic inquiry was chosen as the research method. Data were gathered through interviews collected from 6 participants in the form of in-depth personal accounts of lived experience.

Analysis of the interviews revealed two sets of factors: (1) aesthetic attractive elements of this music (extrinsic and intrinsic); (2) sensations, images, thoughts, and emotions evoked in the listener. It also revealed six types of transformation the co-researchers went through their contact with this music: self-knowledge, self-acceptance, emotional change, empowerment, catharsis, and spiritual growth. In addition, the findings show that Rita Lee‘s songs were influential in the formation of their personal identities, awareness of social matters, and spiritual worldviews. Moreover, this project discusses the idea that self-identification and inner guidance may be one of the means by which these transformational musical experiences occur.

A Mulher Que Nunca Recebeu flores
